Special Issue Policy

Overview

Special Issues in AEBJ are designed to highlight emerging research themes and foster scholarly discussions within the journal’s scope. These issues provide a platform for high-quality, focused research on specific topics curated by leading experts.

Special Issue Topics and Frequency

The editorial team of AEBJ determines Special Issue topics, which are typically released once per year in October - November of each year. Calls for Special Issue submissions are announced in advance and follow the same submission and review process as regular issues.

Proposal and Approval Process for Special Issues

To initiate a Special Issue, a detailed proposal must be submitted to the editorial board. The proposal should include:

  • The theme and objectives of the Special Issue
  • The target audience and relevance to the journal’s scope
  • Proposed Guest Editors, including their qualifications and expertise
  • A timeline for submission, peer review, and publication

The editorial board reviews proposals based on the significance of the topic, potential impact, and feasibility. Final approval is granted by the Editor-in-Chief. Once approved, the Call for Papers is announced and promoted through journal channels.

Appointment of Guest Editors

Guest Editors play a critical role in the success of Special Issues. They are selected based on their expertise, academic reputation, and prior editorial experience. Nominations can be made by the journal’s editorial board, existing editors, or through self-nomination. The editorial board reviews nominations, and final approval is granted by the Editor-in-Chief.

Guest Editors are responsible for:

  • Defining the scope and objectives of the Special Issue
  • Drafting the Call for Papers
  • Overseeing the manuscript submission and peer review process
  • Ensuring manuscript quality and originality
  • Making final recommendations on manuscript acceptance in consultation with the Editor-in-Chief

Editorial & Review Process for Special Issues

All Special Issue submissions undergo the same rigorous editorial and review process as regular issues, ensuring quality and consistency. The process includes:

  • Initial Screening – Guest Editors assess submissions for relevance, originality, and adherence to journal guidelines.
  • Double-Blind Peer Review – Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts in the field.
  • Revisions and Resubmission – Authors must address reviewer feedback and resubmit their revised manuscripts for further evaluation.
  • Final Decision – Guest Editors recommend acceptance or rejection, with final approval by the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Publication and Formatting – Accepted manuscripts are professionally formatted, proofread, and published according to the journal’s schedule.

Publication Timeline

AEBJ publishes two general issues annually:

  • First Issue: January – June
  • Second Issue: July – December

Additionally, AEBJ releases a Special Issue each year, focusing on emerging research topics within the journal’s scope. The timeline and Call for Papers for the Special Issue are announced in advance, with publication scheduled for October to November.

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis and considered for publication based on readiness rather than submission date.

Submission Guidelines for Special Issues

All Special Issue submissions must adhere to:

  • The journal’s author guidelines on formatting, referencing, and ethical considerations.
  • The submission deadlines outlined in the Call for Papers.
  • The same rigorous peer review process as regular submissions.

All published content undergoes the same rigorous editorial and review process, ensuring quality and consistency.

We encourage scholars to submit their work for consideration in upcoming Special Issues and contribute to advancing research in the field.
